UNIMAS ENERGY POLICY
UPGRADE EXISTING BUILDINGS TO HIGHER ENERGY EFFICIENCY
UNIMAS also implemented a project for energy efficiency by practicing the use of LED lights in several places in UNIMAS to reduce electricity consumption in UNIMAS. The following is a list of LED lighting projects at UNIMAS.
- Proposed Supply, Install, Testing And Commissioning Of Led Lighting For Chandelier At Bilik Kenyalang And Nilam, Detar Putra, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Kota Samarahan

PROCESS FOR CARBON MANAGEMENT AND REDUCING CARBON DIOXIDE EMISSIONS
Centre for Renewable Energy (CREN), Faculty of Engineering, UNIMAS has been established in 2009 as a solution provider from various fields in its collaboration effort. Since 2009, CREN has conducted many short courses, technical trainings and consultancy works for UNIMAS, government agencies, industries and communities. UNIMAS has established a Centre of Renewable Energy (CREN) to gather expertise. The centre has continuously secured numerous consultancy projects related to green technology and renewable energy. UNIMAS also have been awarded The Provisional Certificate for their Commitment on reducing the Low Carbon Cities Framework & Assessment System (LCCF). CREN UNIMAS received the award in the Renewable Energy - Off Grid Power category for a project entitled Development of Micro Hydro Project for Kampung Assum, Padawan, Sarawak at the 37th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting at Bangkok, Thailand in 2019.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY PLAN IN PLACE TO REDUCE OVERALL ENERGY CONSUMPTION
UNIMAS implemented several project in campus for energy efficiency such as Solar Installation in new buildings in the Academic Block, Central UNIMAS Building for Educators (The CUBE).

ENERGY REVIEW TO IDENTIFY AREAS WHERE ENERGY WASTAGE IS HIGHEST
UNIMAS has a system called Energy Management System which is supervised by the UNIMAS Development Office. The objectives of installation of energy meter were:
- Knowing the trend / pattern of energy consumption in each building that installed energy meter.
- Analyze and find opportunities to optimize the use of electricity.
- Implement measures to save electricity consumption.
- Monitor energy consumption more effectively.
These energy meters are installed in buildings that use high electricity and in buildings that have many and varied machines such as in MEP, FACA, FRST, Distribution Sub Station, CAIS, FMHS, FE FCSIT, DeTAR, Dahlia College and Alamanda College.
UNIMAS CAMPAIGN
“JOM JIMAT KAMPUS UNIMAS”- UNIMAS Campaign toward water, energy, bills and paper savings. The medium used is through the distribution of posters in all PTj’s to be pasted on the notice board.
