Risk management in UNIMAS was transpired by the establishment of Risk Management Unit upon approval by the university’s 54^th board members’ meeting on 19 December 2011.

The unit was initially placed under Administration and Safety Division in 2012 prior to restructuring of the university’s organization in 2014, in tandem with the formation of Division of Risk Management which consisted of Risk Management Unit and Occupational Safety & Health Unit.

In 2017 the university’s 37^th executive committee convened and agreed to the restructuring and rebranding of Strategic Planning and Quality Management Centre (SQC) to Strategic Planning, Quality and Risk Management Centre (SQRC), where the Risk Management Unit is presently up and running.
