UNIMAS’s Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities teamed up with SEDC’s Regional Development & Planning (RDP) Department to run two intensive training sessions on 10–11 April 2025, aimed at enhancing regional development planning and stakeholder engagement They brought together 28 SEDC officers to explore themes like governance structures, SME roles, connectivity infrastructure, and aligning public-sector agendas, using case studies and interactive exercises. Facilitated by experienced UNIMAS lecturers, the training reflects a joint commitment to building institutional capacity and promoting inclusive, strategic regional growth in Sarawak.

MPKS (Kota Samarahan Municipal Council) and UNIMAS signed a six-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen cooperation in community engagement, experiential learning, and public health. The partnership supports MPKS’s vision of a “Smart, Healthy, Low-Carbon, and Child-Friendly City,” and includes plans to revitalize 16 underused local libraries turning them into community learning hubs where UNIMAS students can tutor local children. As part of this collaboration, they also launched key documents: an anti-corruption plan, MPKS’s strategic development plan, and a community health training module focused on rabies prevention (developed jointly by MPKS and UNIMAS).
