Evidence
1.
As part of UNIMAS continuous efforts and commitment in integrating the culture and awareness of environment sustainability on campus, UNIMAS has embarked towards zero usage of single-use plastics. The objective of this campaign is to educate students and staff on the important of taking care of the environment and negative impacts of single use plastics. This effort and commitment aligns with Malaysia’s Roadmap Towards Zero Single- Use Plastics 2018-2030 Towards A Sustainable Future.
2.

The UNIMAS waste management strategy is strongly aligned with the use minimisation of disposable items, demonstrating compliance primarily through its resource policies and educational initiatives. The commitment to implementing a policy of zero single-use plastics directly addresses the minimisation of the most common disposable items on campus. Furthermore, the promotion of the comprehensive 9R strategies—which begins with refuse and reduce, alongside extending product life through reuse, repair, refurbish, and repurpose—is designed to actively minimize the need for, and reliance on, all forms of disposable materials. This commitment is supported by the plan to measure waste generation in campus cafés, enabling targeted efforts to further reduce disposable item usage in high-consumption areas.
