The Community Awareness Programme with NCTF and UNIMAS was part of the project titled “Safeguarding of National Parks from Invasive Species Invasion and Conservation of Endangered Temoleh in the Tahan Basin, Pahang”, funded by the National Conservation Trust Fund for Natural Resources (NCTF). The project, implemented by Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries Malaysia (DOF) and the Fisheries Research Institute (FRI), aims to conserve the endangered Temoleh fish species, which is listed on the IUCN Red List and found only in the main rivers of Pahang and Perak. On 21 September 2024, a Community Awareness Programme was held with pupils of SK Kampung Pagi, Ulu Tembeling, Jerantut, Pahang, to educate them about the importance of conserving Temoleh fish from a young age. The event also featured the release of Temoleh fish fry as part of efforts to restore the species population in Pahang’s rivers.
