1. | We are pleased to report the successful completion of the sharing session on biodiversity conservation in Sarawak and the biological studies conducted in the Bukit Durang High Conservation Value (HCV) area. Delivered by the Institute of Biodiversity and Environmental Conservation (IBEC), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), the session involved participants from WILMAR International as well as members of the local longhouse community. The programme was designed to disseminate knowledge on the biodiversity resources found within the area while enhancing awareness and encouraging active conservation efforts. We extend our sincere appreciation to all participants for their commitment and engagement. It is hoped that the awareness, knowledge, and skills gained will empower them to contribute more effectively to wildlife conservation and promote sustainable practices within their communities and workplaces.
2. | Establishing a research station in Bako National Park is crucial for UNIMAS. It will drive essential research projects and studies, spreading knowledge and fostering understanding about the importance of preserving Sarawak's rich biodiversity for a sustainable future. The establishment of the research station can also boost the local community’s understanding of the important role Bako National Park plays in their livelihood.
