1. | On 6 November 2024 in Kuala Lumpur, UNIMAS took a bold step in advancing its sustainability leadership. At the forum titled “The Future of ESG” and a keynote session “ESG for a Better Future,” UNIMAS engaged thought-leaders from Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore to explore how Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles are reshaping organisations today. The discussions ranged from nuclear energy’s role in low-carbon futures, to inclusive governance, digital transformation in sustainability reporting and emerging trends that will define the next decade of ESG. Clearly signalling its strategic direction, UNIMAS reaffirmed that ESG is not just a corporate topic but central to its teaching, research and community engagement. With its inaugural ESG Report already published and the final phase of its Sustainability Masterplan 2021–2025 underway, the university is preparing to align its next roadmap with the Sarawak Sustainability Blueprint 2026–2030. In doing so, UNIMAS commits to empower future talent, strengthen sustainable practices on campus and partner across industries and societies in the journey toward a more responsible, resilient and inclusive future. | |||||||||||||
2. | At UNIMAS, service learning is more than volunteer work—it’s a bridge between academia and society. In its recent event, students, faculty, industry partners and community leaders came together to tackle real-world challenges through innovation, digital literacy and locally driven solutions. Guided by the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, participants discovered how methodologies like TRIZ can fuel community entrepreneurship and digital transformation in rural and under-served areas. By linking technology, experimentation and human empowerment, UNIMAS is unlocking sustainable change—giving students hands-on experience and equipping communities with tools to shape their future. | |||||||||||||
