1. 2. | From 24 to 30 November 2024, 100 third-year students from the Development Planning and Management Program participated in the Community Resilience Experiential Learning (CARE) Project) in Betong, hosted by five longhouses in the Layar region: Kampung Gensurai, Kampung Rian Batang, Kampung Jungkal, Kampung Serudit A, and Kampung Serudit B. The project aimed to provide students with hands-on experience in community engagement and sustainable development, focusing on food security and sustainable waste management through collaborative initiatives with local residents. A highlight of the program was a talk by En. Nikk Adam Hj Abdillah Kipli, Manager of the Regional Development and Planning Unit, SEDC, who shared insights on SEDC’s role in connecting communities, resources, and ideas to drive regional development and strengthen collaboration between government agencies, private sectors, and local communities towards achieving sustainable growth. The Agrotech Workshop – Eggplant Fertigation, held in conjunction with the Semera Lestari Program, featured activities such as a lecture on the Basic Fertigation System Module and a Community Development Project. The program was a collaborative effort involving the Kampung Semera community, Agrotechnology postgraduate lecturers and students, the Agrotech media team, and staff from the Faculty of Resource Science and Technology (FSTS). The event was graced by the presence of UNIMAS Board of Directors Chairman Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Sulong Mat Jeraie, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ahmad Hata Rasit, FSTS Dean Assoc.
