1. | At UNIMAS, the commitment to supporting student success extends beyond academics—it includes tailored mentorship programmes that also support female students. For Semester 1 of Session 2024/2025, the Faculty of Engineering rolled out its “Mentor–Mentee Week” initiative (21–25 October 2024) to help first-year engineering students build confidence, learn effective study and time-management strategies, and adapt to university life. Within this structured programme, women students are encouraged to participate as mentees (and where applicable, as mentors), enabling them to access personalised guidance and peer support in a discipline where female representation may be lower. Through one-on-one mentoring sessions, group workshops and peer discussions facilitated under the Faculty’s Mentor–Mentee Unit, women students gain a safe and supportive environment to engage with academic and personal-development issues. By enabling women students to actively engage in mentoring relationships, UNIMAS fosters gender-inclusive support structures that help enhance retention, build resilience and strengthen belonging within engineering programmes. | |||||||||||||
