1. | The Sarawak Building Ordinance 1994 emphasizes water-conscious building standards, promoting efficient water use and sustainable practices in construction. UNIMAS follows these guidelines by integrating water-saving features into its buildings, such as using low-flow fixtures and installing rainwater harvesting systems. For example, in the new Academic Block (The CUBE), UNIMAS has implemented a rainwater collection system that channels filtered rainwater into storage tanks for daily use, aligning with the ordinance’s focus on reducing water consumption and promoting sustainable water management in building designs. | |||||||||||||
2. | A seminar on water optimization in buildings was held, where participants explored innovative strategies and solutions for efficient water management in modern structures. Attendees gained expert insights and participated in discussions on optimizing water usage for sustainability and cost savings. The session was presented by Mr. Razali Abu Bakar, Vice President of the Malaysian Association of Registered Electrical Energy Managers (MAREEM), and moderated by Associate Professor Ir. Dr. Mohd Danial Ibrahim, Head of the Research Cluster on IoT Remote Monitoring and Energy Efficient Systems Optimization at UNIMAS Water Centre. It took place on June 6, 2024, at 10:00 AM via Webex.
